New City Forums are industry-specific communities where Christian professionals learn to integrate faith and work. They exist to help you see your daily work as part of God's mission of renewal, to connect you with like-minded professionals committed to the common good, and to equip you to seek the welfare and shalom of our city through your profession.


Dr. Alexander Hartemink will lead this evenings discussion. He is Professor of Computer Science at Duke, where he teaches a course called "Human Flourishing in a Digital Age," and he has spoken at Notre Dame's summit on AI, faith, and human flourishing.

We built the digital world to connect and free us, ye we feel more distracted, anxious, and fragmented than ever. The arrival of AI has only sharpened the question of what technology is doing to our humanity. For Christians, this is a discipleship question: what does a good life look like when our attention, relationships, and even our work are mediated by screens that are constantly vying for our attention? 

The evening:
Gathering at 6:30pm on November 19th. We will have a time of connecting, followed by a talk and then conversation at your table. We will finish before 8:30pm.

Who should come:
Software engineers, product and design people, founders, data and AI practitioners, and IT — and anyone who wants to think about what these tools are doing to us. Bring a colleague.

$10 per person. Scholarships are available on request.
