New City Forums are industry-specific communities where Christian professionals learn to integrate faith and work. They exist to help you see your daily work as part of God's mission of renewal, to connect you with like-minded professionals committed to the common good, and to equip you to seek the welfare and shalom of our city through your profession.

Working in healthcare today often feels like being thrown into a machine that consumes the people inside it. Exhaustion, moral injury, and staffing shortages have pushed record numbers of nurses, physicians, and caregivers toward exhaustion or exit. This fall the Healthcare Forum will explore how Christianity speaks to healthcare in a way that helps tired professionals see the dignity, significance, worth, and importance of their daily labor in light of Christ's own work. 

Dr. Lloyd Hey will lead the evening. He trained in engineering at MIT and in medicine at Harvard, served on the faculty at Duke for nearly ten years, and started the Hey Clinic for Scoliosis and Spine Care on the Duke Raleigh campus in 2005, where he has performed more than 9,500 spine surgeries. He founded the nonprofit CareGuard Institute to help healthcare leaders increase resilience, fight burnout, and care with a heartset of compassion. He is also an elder at The Summit Church.

The evening: 
Dessert and fellowship at 7:00pm, followed by a 30–40 minute talk, conversation at your table, and then a Q&A. We will finish before 9:00pm.

Who should come: 
All healthcare professionals; bring a colleague! We also welcome everyone who wants to come and learn how to support their friends and loved ones in healthcare. Thinking Christianly about healthcare opens up both discipleship and evangelistic opportunities.
